What kind of equipment do you use?
Just about anything that we feel will suit our needs.
We use various professional grade cameras and lenses from various manufacturers depending on what the situation will call for, and high-quality audio equipment to gather the best sound possible. Then, to cap it off, we use industry standard tools to edit and author the final film.

Do you shoot digitally?
Yes, just because it is more cost effective. We do, however, love the look of film. If you feel the same way, we would love to film your wedding on 35mm! Or, if you're feeling overly ambitious, 65mm (IMAX)... just imagine it... renting out a theatre... invite friends and family to watch it on the big screen....

Are you insured?
Absolutely!

Do you deliver standard definition DVDs, BluRay, or digital files?
Yes.
We can do all three, so depending on what format makes the most sense for you, we can provide that file. Anything beyond an SD DVD, BluRay, or iTunes formatted digital file may cost extra.

[in the probably not too distant future] Help! They don't make BluRay players anymore, ours broke, and our wedding film is on BluRay! What do we do?
We keep all final files so we can convert your wedding film into anything the future may hold.

How would you describe your style?
This is a tough question, since our style is based on your style. Want do do a cool music video for your wedding? Great. Let's do it. Want to not even know we're there? We can do that too.
In general, we like to let the moments happen as they will with little interference. Real emotion comes out when someone doesn't realize there's a camera on them, and that's what we love. But, we've also found that being right there on the dance floor once the reception gets rocking leads to some great footage. Some people love to ham it up, usually resulting in hilarious footage.
But if there's something specific that you want, such as paying homage to a great shot in your favorite movie, talk to us and we'll definitely work with you on that!

Do you do same day edits (SDE)?
Not right now. Not saying we couldn't, we just choose not to. It's your wedding day; you have one shot at this, as do we. We want to make sure we're dedicating our resources to capturing all the details of the day and then put in our best effort into a great edit, instead of throwing something together that day.
And for you too: since this is your big day, do you really want to watch a video of what just happened 10 minutes ago? Soak in the day. This is in the same vein as unplugged weddings. We don't like seeing guests being glued to the LCDs on their cameras when they should be paying attention to you, and we don't want you to miss anything else on your day by watching an instant replay. We like the memories to unfold, and then once the dust settles, you'll be seeing your video in a whole new light.

Do you deliver raw footage?
We can, but we highly discourage this. Not because we don't want you to have it, we're just not sure it's what someone really wants. We don't even want all of the raw footage. Truly raw footage isn't colored properly, has shaky parts where we were setting up a shot, has shots of the cake that someone walked in front of... but if we could eliminate these, there would be no real reason to edit. We take many, many hours of footage from your day and condense it down to tell the story the way it should be told. We have many shots of dancing, even though they can be very similar to all the other shots of dancing. We find the best footage to create an edit that will reflect our style, and the style you're looking for. However, we can deliver multiple formats of the finished product. Standard definition, 1080p, 720p, iPod, iPhone, Quicktime ProRes... if the video format exists, we can deliver.

How involved can we be in the editing process?
As much as you'd like! If this was a Hollywood production, you'd be the producers, so what you would like to see is what we'll work toward. Our typical process is we film the day and gather as much footage as possible, while also paying attention to the storylines of the day. We then make an edit based on what we see and criteria you have provided with us before hand, if any (if you'd like to see a ton of shots of a sibling who helped put together a bunch of the details, or your grandparents who are celebrating 50 years of marriage and are a huge inspiration, let us know and we'll make sure we put a little more focus on that). We then put our first pass on our server for you to preview and then you can let us know if you want any changes made. Once you're happy with how it is, we deliver it in the format of your choosing.

What are your different edit styles?
We like to discuss with our couples to see what styles they are most drawn to and then we see how we can fit to that model. While it's said that when you're picking a photographer, you should pick one because you like their style, and those photographers do have a distinct style. While we believe in consistency of quality, we don't believe in doing one style of editing exclusively. It keeps our work fresh and we're always thinking differently. We have filmed weddings in a fly-on-the-wall non-intrusive style, we've gotten right in the action on the dance floor, and we've created a documentary style presentation, complete with interviews with the bridal party and close family intercut with all the footage. Think of a TLC-type documentary, only with your wedding.

How long will the finished video be?
There is no hard and fast answer to this, since everyone's video will be different. Some videographers will just turn out just a 3-5 minute video from your entire day. We don't believe in that. The style of edits we have done for many of our couples has been 3-5 minute (maybe longer, depending on if it's a ceremony or toasts segment) clips based on different events of the day. The past few weddings we have done have turned out to be around 30-45 minutes in length.
Every clip is separate though, so you won't have to sit back and watch the entire thing every time! It's all divided up into the ceremony, toasts, reception highlights, a couples' highlight, and then any other segment we might be able to come up with. Your video may be longer, depending on the length of ceremony, how long we are shooting for, and how much awesome footage we get.

Are we limited in where we can post the videos?
Not really. We're not crazy about holding the copyrights and really limiting what you can do with them; it's your wedding, they're your memories, we don't want to hold anything for ransom. However, we do ask for credit if possible. We're proud of the work we do and we're a little selfish, we like to be recognized :) Our one main concern is someone else taking credit for the work. Not only for our sake, but you hired US to capture your memories based on our style, past experience, or someone else's word; we don't want someone taking that away from you.

Do you deliver videos on DVD or digital files?
Yes. We can do just about anything. Our typical methods of delivery right now, based on our packages, are digital files which you can download right from our site, and/or a finished DVD. If your package includes it, we place the videos online, and you can download various versions of those files, as well as share the videos through various social media sites, without having to convert and upload the video yourself to a site such as YouTube. If your package includes a DVD, it's a standard DVD that will play in virtually every player, complete with menus and chapter devisions, and depending on how customized you want it, special features.

Does "special features" mean we can do our own commentary?
Yes, that would be awesome! Just imagine 10 years down the line, switching over to the commentary track on your video and hearing your behind the scenes stories of what was going through your head or what someone was doing off camera. That's just one extra layer that will make your wedding video that much more special.

Do you offer day after sessions?
Absolutely. If you have an idea for what you want on your video, and we can even discuss what possibilities there could be, let's set it up! That way we can get specific shots that there just may not have been time for on your wedding day.

Then what about sessions before the wedding?
Definitely. Both before and after sessions are possible, depending on package/a la carte selections, and making sure we can schedule everything. Before sessions would be perfect for engagement videos for creating a video to be played at the reception or even something like video announcements or invitations.

Video invitations? We could film something and send out DVDs to guests? Won't the printing of disks be expensive?
The discs are surprisingly affordable. If you want to do an engagement session, the filming session is already done then, and the edit may be very similar. It all depends on what you want.

What's an engagement session?
It's whatever you want it to be! Engagement announcement video? Video invitations? Wedding intro video? Let us know what plans you may have and we can tailor a shoot just for you!

My photographer can do wedding films, wouldn't it be more economical to choose them?
Perhaps. Video is tricky though. It's not just filming and then putting something together. There's a language involved with the shots someone gets and the edits they make. Everyone can understand it, but it takes special skill to speak it. Make sure whoever you hire is able to dedicate their time and talent to your video, and not doing it as an afterthought or a simple add-on feature.
We use equipment specific to video and take great care in getting the best images and audio and focusing on a strong edit.

A large element of video is knowing what you want to create, planning the steps to get there, and then executing. Have a good idea of what you want for a wedding video. You don't have to have specific plans laid out, like "I want a shot of the cake from above while we hold the knife and kiss". If you do have shots like that, great! But if you just have an idea to tell the great love story of your day, that's perfect.

As with purchasing anything, or even a Hollywood producer choosing their director, make sure you choose someone whose style and capabilities match your vision and most importantly, make sure you get along with and trust whoever is filming your wedding. They're going to be capturing your memories and you're with them for a whole day, potentially more. While a relatively short relationship, it's an important one.

We're interested in working with the right couple, one we can build a great relationship with, and one who who will share our passion for trying something new, something cool, and just put our best effort forward to blow everyone away.
